Trailing and Locating and other NASDA events are the newest dog sport to come on the scene. Dogs retired from other sports love Trailing Locating. It is a great activity without the jarring, jumping and inadvertent body stress of other sports. And rat crazy dogs….think this is the best!!!
Trailing and Locating: A rat is placed in a container/cage and a scent trail is laid from the start to where the quarry is placed. At the lower levels handlers will know the location of the rat. The dogs then use their nose to find the rat. The trick is to not over handle the dog and to let the dog do the work. This activity is great for dogs of all ages, abilities.
Shed Dog: An antler is placed and the dog locates the antler. At the higher levels the dog retrieves an antler/s.
Lost Item: One item is chosen out 3 or 4 items and your dog must locate it. At the first level the item is scented by you, at the higher levels it is scented by a stranger to your dog.
