Trailing and Locating and other NASDA events are the newest dog sport to come on the scene. Dogs retired from other sports love Trailing Locating. It is a great activity without the jarring, jumping and inadvertent body stress of other sports. And rat crazy dogs….think this is the best!!!
Trailing and Locating: A rat is placed in a container/cage and a scent trail is laid from the start to where the quarry is placed. At the lower levels handlers will know the location of the rat. The dogs then use their nose to find the rat. The trick is to not over handle the dog and to let the dog do the work. This activity is great for dogs of all ages, abilities.
Urban Locating: The same premise as Trailing Locating except the rat is hidden in a man made environment such as a shed, building, container, etc. Again, at the lower levels the handler will know where the rat is hidden .
Shed Dog: An antler is placed and the dog locates the antler.
Bring your rat crazy, scent loving, nose to the ground sniffing dogs out and try our newest dog sports…Trailing and Locating and Urban Locating.
Stay tuned for upcoming NASDA (North American Sports Dog Association) sanctioned Trailing and Locating events from K9RATPACK!
