Cathy Leavitt is a lifelong lover of animals who has either had horses, dogs or both throughout most of her life. She is a Barn Hunt and NASDA judge, teaches Barn Hunt and NASDA classes and hosts trials for both events as well. Cathy has a 9 year old New Zealand Herding Dog and they are working towards their RATCHX 11 title; that’s the Barn Hunt designation for Champion. She also has a 9 year old Dutch Shepherd that has earned her RATCH title.
They have competed at the National Level in Barn Hunt and in a field of 160 dogs both dogs were in the top 50 with Sykes coming in 8th place overall.
Cathy has completed Karen Pryor’s Dog Trainer Program and regularly attends workshops with experts such as Susan Clothier, Ken Rameriz and Shade Whitesel to expand her dog training skill set.
Cathy teaches primarily in Prunedale, bit is in San Jose at Town and Country Dog Training Club on Thursdays. (Look up the club for information about how to register for San Jose classes!) Check the schedule for weekly training, Introduction to Rats workshops and upcoming trials.
Happy Hunting!
